World Languages Soccer Tournament!
Please salute the 2016-2017 WH World Languages Soccer Tournament Champions!
That's right! We brought the cup right where it belongs; room 287.
For the past 4 years we have been doing a WL Soccer Tournament at my school at the end of the school year. Who participates? The Senior classes of the languages that we offer. This year we had three teams; Spanish, Italian, and French. Next school year we will invite a senior English class, and hopefully team USA will join us! (Madame Greenberg's awesome idea!)
We started doing this Tournament because... honestly? Because seniors have already checked out by this time of the year, right? So we wanted to keep them engaged somehow, and this tournament is the perfect solution!
We started back in 2014, with the World Cup (yes, the World Cup where Spain did soooo poorly, don't remind me), and little by little this activity has soared and the majority of the school looks forward this event! Some teachers will even bring their classes out to see the games, especially the final!
We could not host this tournament without the support of our administration, so a big shoutout to the administration of our school, including the athletic director. The Physical Education teachers are also on board with us, and they let us use their field, equipment and time; THANK YOU!
And next year? Who'll be the champions? My Spanish IV class is VERY excited about next year...
